Who we are

The Lions Den is a companion app for a 12-week men's discipleship program, published by Big Sky Horizon Software LLC ("we", "us"). This policy covers the iOS and Android apps and the website at lionsdendiscipleship.com.

It describes what we collect, why, where it lives, and how you remove it. If something here is unclear, email [email protected] and we will explain it in plain words.

02

What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to sign you in, put you in a cohort, and show your brothers whether you checked in.

Account

Your name, email address and a hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.

Cohort

Which cohort you belong to, whether you lead it, its invite code, and the meeting time and place your group sets.

Check-ins

One record per discipline per calendar day — the discipline, the local date, and whether you completed it. No text, no location, no timestamps beyond the date.

Journal

The entries you write — title, body text and date. Stored on your device and synced to your account on our server so they survive a lost or replaced phone.

Device

A session token stored on your device to keep you signed in, plus your reminder time preference if you enable the daily reminder.

03

Your journal

Journal entries are written to a local database on your phone first, so the app works with no connection, and then synced to your account on our server. That backup is the point: replace your phone, sign in, and your journal is still there.

Your entries are private to your account. No other user — including the men in your cohort and the leader who created it — can read them. Your cohort only sees the yes/no fact that you journaled on a given day, handled exactly like any other check-in. If you journal on paper, you can tick the discipline without writing anything in the app.

Entries are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in the same US-hosted database as the rest of your account data. We do not read your entries, mine them, or use them to train anything. We access stored entries only where strictly necessary to fix a fault you have reported to us, or where the law compels it.

Deleting your account deletes your entries from our database along with everything else. If you journal on something you want no copy of anywhere, write it on paper.

04

What we do not do

No analytics

The app contains no third-party analytics, attribution or crash-tracking SDKs. We do not build a behavioural profile of you.

No ads

There is no advertising in the app and no advertising identifiers are collected.

No selling

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. There is no data broker in this picture.

No tracking

We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not ask for the iOS tracking permission.

05

Who can see your activity

Group-visible accountability is the point of the program, so the men in your cohort can see your name and whether you completed each day's expected disciplines. They cannot see your journal entries, your email address or anything outside the program.

Nobody outside your cohort can see your check-ins. There is no public directory, no search, and no social feed.

Leaving your cohort stops sharing your status with that group from that moment on.

06

Notifications

The daily reading reminder is scheduled on your device by the operating system. There is no push server, no notification token sent to us, and no record of whether you opened a reminder. Turn it off in the app or in your system settings at any time.

07

Where your data lives

Account, cohort and check-in data is stored in a Postgres database hosted in the United States on Fly.io, our infrastructure provider. Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

Fly.io processes this data only to host it for us. We use no other third-party processors for personal data.

If you use the app from outside the United States, you are consenting to your data being stored and processed in the United States.

08

How long we keep it

We keep your account, cohort membership, journal entries and check-in history for as long as your account exists — your streaks are built from that history, and your journal is meant to be there twelve weeks later.

When you delete your account we delete those records from our live database immediately. Encrypted infrastructure backups are retained for up to 30 days and then age out, after which no copy remains.

09

Your rights and choices

You can change your name, email or password in the app, leave a cohort at any time, and delete your entire account from inside the app — no email, no waiting on us. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, port or restrict processing of your data; email us and we will honour them.

Delete

Profile → Danger Zone → Delete account. Step-by-step instructions are on our account deletion page.

Access

Email [email protected] from your account address and we will send you a copy of what we hold.

Complain

If you are in the EU or UK you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10

Children

The Lions Den is built for adult men in a discipleship cohort and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

11

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Material changes will also be announced in the app before they take effect.

Questions or requests

Email us and a human will answer. We respond to access, correction and deletion requests within 30 days.
